Kristina Higgins resigned her newly awarded Miss Georgia title on Sunday morning following the pageant. Kristina Higgins who competed as Miss Capital City told pageant officials on Sunday morning that she did not feel like she could fulfill her pageant duties, therefore the Miss Georgia crowned went to Miss Cobb County, Emily Cook.
While traveling home to Cobb County, Emily Cook received a phone call from the Miss Georgia board giving her the news and immediately the car was turned around and later that day, Cook was crowned the new Miss Georgia 2009. Emily Cook plays the oboe for talent and her platform is “Breast Cancer Research and Awareness in Young Women.”
