What Should Be in a Closing Statement?

Following the pageant interview questions your closing statement should include two things: Thanking the judges and giving them something to remember.  Although many people prepare a closing statement before the pageant interview, I would suggest that you do not.  If there was something controversial in your pageant interview questions, this is a good chance for you to put up a good fight.  This is your time to show the judges that you are not afraid of the tough questions and that you believe in what you say.

For example: You told the judges that you believe that condoms should be available to students at school right before you are about to begin your closing statement so you may say something to the effect of: Thank you so much for interviewing with me. I appreciate your interesting questions. Although I won’t be giving out any condoms in this interview, I want you to know that my heart is to help young people protect themselves both mind and body.  I look forward to seeing you tonight.

I know the statement might seem a bit forward, but shrinking violets don’t win pageants. Put your views out there boldly and within your personality and then never regret what you think.
