When trying to select the perfect evening gown the choices can be overwhelming. What type of cut should you get? What type of material should you wear? Beads or no beads? High slit? Strapless? One strap? And the options continue down a very long list. Regardless, of the designer dress you choose to wear for your pageant whether your evening gown is Tony Bowls, Sheri Hill or custom made here are 4 keys to finding the perfect evening gown that will “wow” the judges and give you a high score. (Yes, these tips are listed in order of importance.)
4 Keys to Discovering Your Perfect Evening Gown
- How Do You Feel in the Dress – First and foremost you have to feel beautiful in the dress. If you do not feel beautiful do not purchase the evening dress. I do not care who is the designer is or what is price of the dress, if you do not feel like a queen deserving her crown then you will not win the crown evening gown. Be patient with yourself in the process selecting the right dress may take a couple of weeks.
- Can You Work the Dress – Can you walk in the dress, and work the best attributes of the dress to your advantage. This will ultimately take some practice so you might have to try the evening gown on a couple of times, walk around and see what is the best strategy to use when performing in the evening gown competition based on the material and cut of your gown.
- How Does the Dress Fit – Does the dress need taken in? Or extra material added to make the evening dress your evening gown? Find a good tailor and allow he or she to make the dress fit you in such a way that your attributes are accented and your liabilities are minimized.
- Customized Accessories and Accents - Lastly what earrings, bracelets, or necklace should you wear to accent the evening gown to make the dress pop on stage and memorable for the judges? If you don’t give them something to talk about then you will be just another local titleholder.
