Secret Pageant Hair and Makeup Tips

This interview is with the 2010 Miss Teen Arkansas-World, Morgan Miller who will be giving you her secret pageant hairstyle and makeup tips. Morgan is 18 years old and will be attending the University of Arkansas in the fall. She lives in Little Rock Arkansas and recently graduated from Episcopal Collegiate School. She enjoys cheering and has cheered for over 11 years. She also enjoys playing softball, going to the lake, baking, working out and hanging out with friends.

Do you or a consultant style your hair and apply your makeup?

Jamie: When you compete in a pageant, do you use a professional Hair and Make-up person or do you do it yourself? Either way, please explain why?

Morgan: When I compete I do my own hair and pageant make-up. I chose to do so this time around because I have been taught to do it myself. I have competed in the USA system and the girls are not allowed to have someone do their hair and make-up backstage, so I have learned how to do full and hair and make-up.

Favorite Makeup and Hair Products

Jamie: Do you have a favorite make-up item or hair product for when you compete? I want ALL your secrets HAHA! ;)

Morgan: Well I could not go to any pageant without my lip gloss, especially MAC! It keeps the look very fresh and teen, and for my hair, HAIRSPRAY of course. My hair wouldn’t be looking great without Sebastian Shaper Plus.

But one trick I learned, is that you can use hairspray on not only you hair but your legs! If you spray hairspray on you legs it gives off a more toned, or solid look. I know that sounds really weird.

How Important and How Much Time

Jamie: How important is hair and pageant make-up to you and how much time is spent on it?

Morgan: Well on an everyday basis hair and make-up is not the most important thing, but in pageants it is one of the things I focus on A LOT. I spend about an hour to do my hair and pageant make-up.

Glam or Natural?

Jamie: With regard to Houston, for the Miss Teen United States-World pageant what was your look (more natural or more glam?)

Morgan: For the Miss Teen United States-World pageant I leaned more towards a natural look. Obviously I was on stage and the lights are very bright, so there will be a lot of make-up on, but I prefer leaning to the more natural look.

Biggest Pageant Hair Mistake

Jamie: What is the biggest mistake you’ve seen from other girls hairstyles in pageants?

Morgan: Gosh, that is a hard one. I would have to say too much hair. Meaning that girls will tease their hair way to much, and that is all the audience and maybe the judges will see. I personally think that the more flowy, and natural a girls hair is, the more beautiful.

Jamie: In general, what did you spending most of your time on as you prepared for the Miss Teen United States-World Pageant?

Morgan: Working out!!!!!

Win Free Arbonne by Lynn Laporte

About a month ago an Arbonne Representative, named Lynn Laporte contacted me to help her with some of her marketing. And due to the fact that I cannot fully market a product that I have not experienced she sent me some samples including some makeup, anti-aging creams and various moisturizers. I was so taken by the product that I thought that I would write a review on Arbonne for those of you, like me, who had no experience with the brand.

Now, I do not know about the makeup side of things for which I appealed to my sisters and mother (which I will get to in a second), but I LOVED the men’s line.

Arbonne Skin Care for Men

The thing that I enjoyed about Arbonne, was that the packaging was extremely professional and high quality and the product itself worked wonders on my skin. Since high school I have progressively tried more and more skin care lines from Mary Kay to Artistry to Aveeno to Tolsum. Up to this point Tolsum worked the best with my skin but after using Arbonne for about 3 weeks I have noticed that I skin looks the best that it ever has (my opinion :) ). But, that is the men’s line.

Mama Roddy Meets Arbonne

Onto Mama Roddy, a Mary Kay user for 28 years, who had the priviledge of trying out the variety of woman’s product that Lynn sent me said:

“I liked the way the skincare product smelled. (I made a face) I know its weird Steven but honestly you don’t find a skincare product that has a nice smell. Most don’t have a scent for fear of agitating the skin. It went on really gentle but seem to give me a deep cleanse removing all of the makeup and dirt that gets on your face throughout the day.

The Foundation Primer goes on like silk…it was so light and just made my skin feel so soft and the Primer made my makeup stay on longer. (I am laughing while typing because my mom is so animated)

The eye-cream seem to soften my crows feet over night and again it went on so lightly.

The lipstick went on really creamy and moist.

And the anti-aging products were just AWESOME!”

The Spa Detox Healed Mama Roddy’s Arm?

A couple of weeks ago my mother fell on her arm and deeply bruised her shoulder. She was walking around in a sling for weeks used the Spa detox shower cream (body wash and scrub) she said, “The next day my shoulder felt so much better and I thought…could it be because of the detox?” Now, she can’t guarantee that the shower cream made her arm feel better but all she knew was that the next day it felt great.

Oh and she said that, “The Body Gelee,” that is part of the Spa Detox Shower Cream, “was like rubbing your skin with silk…loved, loved, loved it!”

My Easiest Interview

This was by far the easiest interview I have ever done. I asked one question to mama and about 10 minutes later she stopped talking about ALL of the products. The hardest part was typing fast enough to keep up. She concluded with maybe you shouldn’t say that I was a director in Mary Kay, and that I liked the ArBonne products better…they might boycott me.

I told her my lips were sealed. ;)

When I told Mama Roddy that she is going to start getting a lot more requests for reviews if she keeps up this glowing report. To which she responded, “Well, I am going to be honest. If they give me crap they won’t get a good report.”

LOL…Well, that is Mama for ya.
