Most people would say, “I know who I really am?” It’s an important step in your pageant career; however, knowing who you are is not the key to winning your pageant. The real question that I encourage contestants to ask themselves is “Why?” Why do you believe in your viewpoints? Why are your beliefs important to you? How does the “why” shape your life? This is your true foundation for success in the Miss America and Miss USA pageants. Test your belief before the judges do. Ask yourself the tough questions. You might be surprised with your answers.
There are No Wrong Answers in Pageantry
Since there are no wrong answers in pageantry, we only have opinions, therefore in interview, you must be able to back up what you say. Whatever you believe in is worth a good fight. Arm yourself with information. Every pageant girl needs a pageant book. A pageant books helps to keep you on task and centered. With all the hairspray and sequins flying around, it’s easy to lose yourself in the glitz and glamour.
Pageant Book Contents:
1. On page one in one sentence, the reasons that you do pageants.
2. Pictures of your supporters: The Family and Friends.
3. Quotes that inspire you
4. In separate tabs, collect tips and advice for each score category.
5. Interview: Write and Answer your own pageant questions.
If a judge asks you a question that stomps you, write that question down!
No matter what, never tell a judge something that you don’t believe. Queens should be authentic, so fight the urge to say what you believe others want to hear.
