Liz Cochran won the 2009 Miss Alabama crown , replacing the current Miss Alabama, Amanda Tapley. Liz Cochran, formerly Miss Hoover, won the swimsuit preliminary competition, whose talent is dance. Cochran is pre-med major at Birmingham-Southern College and will claim $10,000 in cash scholarships for being crowned Miss Alabama 2009. Liz will compete for the 2010 Miss America crown in Las Vegas this January

Other Miss Alabama pageant winners include: First runner-up was Miss North Jefferson County Colene Burns; second runner-up was Miss Talladega County Susannah Higgins; third runner-up was Miss Chattahoochee Valley Courtney Porter; and fourth runner-up was Miss Point Mallard Haley Arrington.
