miss america swimsuit competition tips

The swimsuit competition is the most exciting aspect of the Miss America competition if you are a guy however if you are the one walking in your swimsuit this portion can be very nerve racking. Here are five swimsuit tips to remember when competing:

  1. Strike the Pose – Prior to going out on stage practice your final pose in the mirror to get the longest, leanest look that you can. Try different poses and watch past preliminary swimsuit winners to get ideas. I have attached Katie Stam’s swimsuit walk so you can get an idea of how to perfect your walk.
  2. Butt Glue – When on stage you have to look flawless so when you walk you cannot afford to have your swimsuit bottoms ride. Applying butt glue will keep your swimsuit in position so you can focus your attention on winning and not keeping your suit in place.
  3. No Camel Toe - Purchase a skin tone fabric and have your dry cleaner sow the fabric on top of the lining of your swimsuit bottoms.
  4. No Tags – When competing take the tags off of your shoes and swimsuit.
  5. Shoes - The shoes that you pick should not distract from your swimsuit. Picking bright red heels will serve more as a distraction than anything. I would suggest nude color heels but of course there are some exceptions to every pageant rule.

Find the bathing suit that maximizes your assets while minimizing your liabilities. If you have short legs and a long torso wear bottoms that come up in more of a V-shape that will make your legs look longer.

Nothing is more distracting to a judge than camel toe! Oh and loud shoes completely take away from your swimsuit presentation.
