When you compete in a pageant, even if it is the fourth time you have done so, it can be extremely nerve-racking. The onstage interview can cause the biggest concern in pageantry. But, before you ruin your mascara keep in mind that onstage interview has the lowest weighted score out of all the areas of competition.
Take a Chill Pill
When it comes to on stage interview, you will need to relax so you can think clearly. Take some deep breaths and remain thankful for the opportunity to earn scholarship money and to display your talents. Remember that thankfulness and fear cannot remain in the body simultaneously.
The biggest fear in pageantry is being made to look a fool. However, the judges are not trying to make you look like a one. The questions asked during this portion of the competition could be easily answered if they were asked one on one but the difficulty comes with the added pressure of the crowd and the crown. Therefore, after the question is asked pause for a moment and then answer the question. The pause may seem like an eternity to you because you are the one in the spotlight but to the audience and judges it will seem natural (that is if the pause is in moderation of course).
Jumping right in to answer the question by restating the question in your answer just shows that you are buying time. Its better not to repeat the question in your answer but too simply answer the question.
In closing remember that you are gorgeous, you have great self-confidence, you know how to clearly articulate your viewpoints and that this is just what the judges are looking for.
