I have been around the pageant planet now for about 4 years and I have seen some stuff! My “favorite” is watching pageant mama drama. Pageant mama’s this article is a shout out to you!

Don’t Be a Pageant Mom

First, don’t be a pageant mom. You know the kind I am talking about. When you are attending a pageant, unless you are competing in a Mrs. Pageant you are there to support your daugther…not relive your childhood dreams through her pageant experience. Your daughter is not your lifesized barbie nor is she your mini me. She is completely her own. Your pageant daugther is a little bit of her father and yes a little bit of you. But that makes her completely unique, not a high school version of herself.

Conspiracy Theory

Secondly, if your daughter happens to lose her pageant there is not a conspiracy theory that is keeping your daughter from the crown. You daughter lost and that is o.k. I almost laughed a couple of times listening to mothers say that their daughter didn’t get picked because of age, race and my favorite favoritism by the board who pre-preped the judges. Again, don’t make excuses if she lost…just support the winner and move on. Don’t have pageant mama drama.

Grow Up

Thirdly, you are not the judge therefore your opinion doesn’t matter. Pageant mama’s have the tendency to call out every girl (cough) whom they feel threatens their daughter’s success. They gossip…”Do you know what I heard?..” and whisper in corners about who was doing what last weekend. Really? Please for your daughters sake…grow up.

At the root of all Pageant Mama Drama is the belief that your daughters is the greatest…and that is great. You should. But, just because you think that your daughter is the greatest doesn’t mean that she is the greatest competitor in the pageant. Relax and enjoy the journey with her. You are there to be a support and she needs that support because pageants are stressful. So be her stress reliever.

Oh…and don’t hate me for calling you out.
