The Dangers of Tanning

the dangers of tanning beds, tanning beds, tanned skin, skin damage

In the beloved field of pageantry tanned skin is loved by most white people. But, what is the cost of getting your skin tanned? I am not talking in term of dollars, but life. It is death due to skin cancer. There are many ideas about tanning that people believe and think that they are safe. But, lets talk about the darker side of the tanning process.

False Facts on Sun Tanning

Many girls believe that when they use tanning oils on skin and then get tanned makes them safe. But that is not true. No tanning oil prevents the sun. If it had prevented sun, you would not have got tanned! Tanning skin is only due to the UV radiation and radiation damages which can lead to skin cancer.

A swim after tanning skin protects the skin  is another belief of some girls. Really? Come on. No amount of swimming after laying out will save your skin. Once the skin gets tanned, it is damaged. Swimming without application of a sunscreen is very bad because water reflects more UV radiation. The radiation near the beach is more than on the ground away from beach.

Protect your skin by avoiding tanning extremes. Use tanning cosmetics to get artificial color if you want, but don’t damage your skin by basting in the sun. Tanning beds, sun lamps and sun all are bad for skin.

Back to Reality

Naturally, you cannot avoid the sun. In fact the sun provides you with certain vitamins. However, if you expose yourself to  the sun over long periods of time then damage will occur. Now because you are young and the good Lord gracious he installed healing mechanisms in your body to protect you. But, as your years pass the sun damage will show if you do not protect yourself and continue to expose yourself for long periods of time to the sun.

And remember that there has never been a white girl who looked like a cross between an orange and a brown piece of toast crowned as Miss America.

Tanning RESPONSIBLY is what should be encouraged for those wishing to have a year round golden glow. The best way to get that is to talk to the tan techs – see if they are knowledgeable (some are even certified), use a GOOD indoor tanning lotion, and be responsible in regards to tanning without burning!!! Red a gorgeous color on a dress, but not on skin!
