White is a popular color in evening gown for pageant contestants. It is often a color that many pageant winners are crowned in. Because of this, many contestants look for the perfect white gown when choosing their evening gown.
However, unless you look in the bridal section, finding a white gown in the store can be relatively difficult. (Read: How to Win in a White Gown)
Fortunately, brides of today are extremely fashion forward and, with a bit of imagination and a few alterations, you could transform a bridal gown into a pageant gown.
5 Bridal Gowns to Wear in Evening Gown
1. Pronovias Haute Couture 2017, Nuria
The zippered back versus traditional bridal buttons keeps this looking perfect for an evening gown. The gemstone and feather detailing on the cuffs of the sleeves reminds me of the dress Julia Roberts wore in a commercial. They give the gown a bit of detail while allowing its simplicity to keep the judges’ eyes on you.
I wouldn’t even shorten the train on this gown. The slit makes it not appear too heavy or bridal.
2. Eve of Milady, Style 4435
This gown screams pageant. The encrusted bodice and dropped waist will accentuate your curves while the skirt will give you an elegant presence.
It is a common silhouette for pageant contestants but is often done in other colors, so the white would be a refreshing take.
3. Essense of Australia, Style D2256
I stopped scrolling when I saw this gown. Maybe it was how she was posing or how her hair was styled, but this gown has “Pageant Queen” written all over it.
It features a classic sweetheart neckline and a fit-and-flare but relaxed fit. The Diamante belt accentuates the waist and the visible seams will accent your curves. The gown does have fabric buttons, but you may be able to have them removed since it zips beneath them.
4. Casablanca Bridal, Style 2091
This gown is similar in style to Miss California USA 2016, Nadia Mejia’s Miss USA gown. However, it adds a little more of a ball gown feel to the skirt than Nadia’s had.
Remove the beaded panel in the center and keep a deep V or add a sheer panel if modesty is needed there to make it more pageant than bridal. You’re sure to feel like Cinderella on stage in this gown.
5. Maggie Sottero, Penny
While this gown does come in all ivory and white options, the Parisian Mist option is actually what drew me to it as an evening gown option.
We rarely see pink on stage, so a soft pink will give you some color to stand out in the sea of whites and reds while still giving you that touch of innocence. The scoop neckline and the asymmetrically pleated bodice draws the eye up to the face and the dropped waist accentuates your curves.
Opt to lose the buttons if possible in the back to make it less bridal.
Never feel like you have to limit yourself to the prom or couture pageant lines. With a little imagination and some faith, any dress can become an evening gown. (Read: What Your Evening Gown Color Says About You)
After all, the gown doesn’t win the crown, the girl wearing the gown does.
Happy shopping, ladies!
