On January 12, 2013, Miss New York Mallory Hagan was crowned Miss America 2013. Not only did she win the coveted crown and title, but she also received a $50,000 scholarship courtesy of Amway. In a recent interview with Klaudia Kaczmarek of beautyblitz.com, the new Miss America shared her beauty routine for during pageants and for a day-to-day basis.
Hagan Swears by Artistry
To Hagan, the most important aspect of her beauty routine is proper skin care, especially now because she is traveling. She swears by Artistry’s Renewing Peel, which she uses nightly, and also their Balancing System. Both of these come in a travel pack, which is very convenient given the new jet-setting lifestyle she is getting accustomed to. She also loves Artistry’s liquid eyeliner because she has what she claims to be the “oiliest eyelids.” This eyeliner doesn’t budge, doesn’t end up on the top of her eyelid, and lasts for her long 14-hour days!
Miss America is also sponsored by Artistry, which makes it perfect since Hagan swears by their products. Even though makeup artists are allowed for the Miss America pageant, Hagan decided to do her own makeup this year, and clearly, she did a great job!
Miss America Does Her Own Makeup
Hagan said, “I just wanted to make sure that if I were to win Miss America, you don’t get a makeup artist every day, that I could do it on my own.”
To look like Miss America every day, Hagan says she takes about an hour and 15 minutes each morning to shower, do her hair, and do her makeup. Normally, she said it would take about 45 minutes each day, but now she wants to be put together to represent the Miss America brand, so she takes her time to look her best in representing her country. She listens to music as she gets ready, in order to be more relaxed and to start her day in a great and positive way.
