Ever wondered what it would be like to meet Miss America? Of course, you have; every pageant contestant has.

But, have you ever wondered what it would be like to be judged by her?

Contestants of USA National Miss have had both experiences. Not only have they met Miss Americas, but they have been judged by Miss Americas. This year, USA National Miss contestants will be judged by none other than Miss America 2017, Savvy Shields.

“Savvy has a quality about her that really resonated with everyone inside and outside of the pageant world,” said Jackie Watson, UNM Founder and Owner. “She is one of the most beloved Miss Americas in modern history and served with a genuine interest in connecting with the American people during her reign.” (Read: Meet Our New Miss America 2017, Savvy Shields!)

This is a sentiment shared by many in the pageant community. Savvy’s smile and genuine nature won the hearts of everyone during the MAO 2017 broadcast.

“I am thrilled and honored to welcome Savvy to UNM, knowing she is the perfect fit to lead our judges’ panel in selecting the next USA National Miss national queens, who will serve as role models to young women everywhere,” Watson added.

Other well-known UNM judges

Savvy is not the first forever Miss America to sit at the judges’ table for UNM. Other forever Miss Americas and MAOTeen titleholders to share the honor include Teresa Scanlan, Miss America 2011; Katie Stam Irk, Miss America 2009; Kira Kazantsev, Miss America 2015; and Leah Sykes, Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2014.

Additionally, UNM has also had judges from the Miss Universe Organizations including Nia Sanchez, Miss USA 2014 and first runner-up to Miss Universe; Migbelis Castellanos, Miss Venezuela Universe 2013; Raquel Pelissier, Miss Haiti Universe 2016; and Logan West, Miss Teen USA 2012.

Summer Priester, Miss United States 2015, has also been a UNM judge.

While it can be intimidating to stand before such accomplished women, remember, they’ve stood in your shoes before, so they know exactly how you feel. Take a breath and tell your story.
