The Miss California Organization has announced a new CEO to chair the pageant going forward. The former Miss California has recently been appointed as the Interim President and CEO of the organization.
The New CEO
The new CEO is the 1992 Miss California winner, Patricia Murray. She is a resident of Conejo Valley, California and said, “When I learned about the mission of the Miss California Scholarship Organization and [its] commitment to help women pursue their dreams, I was in.” (Read: 19 Pilates Moves to Prep for Your Next Pageant like Miss California 2016)
Since her time as Miss California 1992, she earned her bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from California Polytechnic State University. She also served as a California Air National Guard pilot and did six different tours in Africa, Iraq and Afghanistan. She earned the rank of lieutenant colonel and was awarded the Commanders Trophy at military pilot training graduation.
Murray exemplifies the service point of the crown as she serves as the director on the Disabled Veterans Charities board that helps disabled and struggling veterans in Los Angeles. (Read: Miss California 2016 Evening Gown: HIT or MISS?)
She is the mom of three daughters and has served as a pilot for American Airlines for nearly two decades.
“After winning Miss California in 1992, I was able to use the scholarship money to pursue my lifetime dream of becoming a pilot,” Murray said. “I would not have been able to attend pilot school were it not for the Miss California Organization.”
