Miss Galaxy Wales 2017 Evening Gown
Miss Galaxy Wales 2017, Lauren Parkinson, took home the title wearing this stunning black dress with a dramatic crystal beaded top.
Black never goes out of style. It’s classic, bold and chic. However, if you are searching for a black evening gown, it’s best to make sure it’s the right color for you! (Read: 10 Reasons Why You Should NOT Wear A Black Evening Gown)
Lauren’s gown appears to be made of taffeta fabric, which can often appear to be matte or shiny depending on the lighting on stage. Be sure to experiment with different lighting choices before settling on your gown.
This show-stopping gown features cap sleeves and a black mesh crew neckline with an array of clustered flower designed crystals that not only appear at the top of her neckline but line the plunging sweetheart neckline of the bodice as well. In between are diagonal crystals that begin at her shoulders and come to a point just before the sweetheart neckline.
The bottom of the gown has a slight trumpet skirt, which would perfectly finish off the gown, but it appears that it may be too loose around Lauren’s midsection, making the bottom of the gown billow. I also believe that her gown might need to be tailored at the bottom. It’s so important to make sure you have the proper alterations done before your pageant so the gown can fit you to a T!
Lauren left her blonde hair down, parted deeply over her right eye in big curls. I would have liked to see Lauren’s hair up to show more of the gown’s detailing on the top, but this style is flattering. (Read: 4 Easy Updos Any Pageant Girl Can Achieve)
Black crystal earrings match the details of the gown perfectly.
Even though there could have been a few alteration changes, overall, this gown is a HIT! Great choice, Lauren.
