Pageant Question About a Word to Describe Your Country
Today’s Pageant Question of the Day is: What is one word to describe your country?
Why this question was asked: In honor of the 4th of July in the United States, we wanted to know how you would describe your country. This shows pride in where you live and ability to think fast.
This is how some of our Instagram followers answered the question:
Chinkey (miss_messyhead): One word describing my country would be celebration. We in India have diversity in the languages we speak, clothes we wear and traditions we follow. What keeps us united is celebration: celebration of festivals, of belonging to our motherland, and of sharing ideas, love and acceptance of one another no matter how differently perfect we are. There’s always a celebration for success or for failure because that’s what keep us growing.
Putri (putripijar): Paradise. In Indonesia, we have so many many beautiful destinations, amazing tourism, wonderful citizens and very delicious food. Our culture is spectacular. We live in the fertile country- everything can grow here. Nothing is impossible here. We live with so much differences in religion, culture and personality but we are one as a strong nation. We are different and we have different colors, but if we become one, we are like the flowers in the park of paradise.
Erin (road.to.nam.mi): One word to describe my country is proud. I think every American is proud to be in this country and so dedicated in everything they do. I know that I’m proud to be an American!
Nuria (nam_nuriaelena): The USA is unique! There is no other country like ours. We are a group of many states that stand together as one, sort of like a family that loves each other so very much even though we do not always agree on everything. I love the USA!
Gaven (xoxogavo): America is without a doubt hopeful. From our founding fathers to the current day middle class, along every bump in the road no matter how big or small, we as Americans want our country to improve every day in every aspect that it can. No matter what the world throws at us, we want to be better. We are hopeful for a better America each and every day.
Joi (stayjoiful): Diverse. It seems as though we have more immigrants in our country than others, which is a beautiful thing because we get to experience different cultures and customs of others and fall in love with diversity even more.
Mary (sndevsweetheart08): Resilient. If something knocks us down, whether it be a natural disaster, an economic downturn, or a conflict of ideas, we rise, becoming stronger and wiser. The United States is relatively young in comparison to other countries with such international prominence in terms of international and economic relations and we are still learning and developing ourselves in many ways.
Our favorite answer:
(teaching_vs_pageants): Accepting. We accept there are good and bad in the world. We support equality, LGBT rights and free speech. We accept that people make mistakes and give them a chance to rehabilitate themselves. We support our poor and accept that they need help to get back on their feet. We accept refugees and welcome them with open arms. We accept change and embrace it.
The judges would like this answer the best because she provides specific examples to back up her chosen word. (Read: Pageant Question About How You Would Like Your Country to be Viewed)
