Pageant Question About What Your State/Country is Known For
Today’s Pageant Question of the Day is: What is your state/country known for?
Why this question was asked: Your answer shows the judges you take pride in where you live and are able to talk about its highlights.
This is how some of our Instagram followers answered the question:
Rebecca (asianfromiowa): Besides the classic corn, cows, and soybeans the great state of Iowa produces, many people don’t know that Iowa is the birthplace of many celebrities such as the 31st President of the United States Herbert Hoover, Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Shawn Johnson, and actor Ashton Kutcher who’s actually from my hometown. He came and ate at my family’s restaurant on Christmas Eve 2014!
(newyorkcrowns): Many people think that New York is only known for the city. While it may be beautiful, the lands around the city are breathtaking. The state is filled with miles of amazing landscapes including the Catskills, Adirondacks, and many waterfalls. It’s a wonderful place to go hiking and site-seeing, especially in Upstate New York. Living in Syracuse my entire life has been a blessing. It’s such an honor to be representing this beautiful state of New York.
Katie (katie.hodges): Tennessee is known as the Volunteer State because of how many Tennesseans volunteered to serve under General Andrew Jackson in the War of 1812. To me this shows Tennessee’s dedication to our country in how we are willing to fight for the many freedoms we are granted because of the amazing, strong men and women that serve in our armed forces.
Chinkey (miss_messyhead): My state is known for its people. Delhi is the “Dilwalon ka sheher” (state of people with hearts). Here you will come across people who’ll be always be ready to go out of their way to help you. Besides that, our state has history and despite how its reputation swirls about in media, the residents are grateful to be a part of this place.
Jeslyn (jj31000): Wisconsin is known as the Dairyland! We are the #1 producers of cheese but sadly now #2 of total dairy. Wisconsin is also home to the Green Bay Packers and amazing Door County Wine. With Lake Michigan bordering the whole East coast of the state and Lake Superior to the North, Wisconsinites are famous for Friday night fish fries and ice fishing!
Our favorite answer:
Medina (medina_marie86): Besides some of the GREATEST sports teams in the world (the Steelers and Penguins of course), Pennsylvania is known for being a historical state. It is home to the Liberty Bell, Gettysburg battlefield, as well as Ft. Pitt and Ft. Necessity. Not only that, but the Dutch Apple Pie is to die for. Top it off with a scoop of Very Vanilla from Penn State Creamery and some Hershey chocolate syrup and you have a sweet treat on a humid Pittsburgh day.
The judges would like this answer best because it is memorable, fun and descriptive. (Read: Pageant Question About Visiting Your City)
