It is our favorite time of the month! At Pageant Planet, we love to showcase the top 10 crowning moments of the month. We love highlighting these amazing women who have put in so much time and hard work to win the title of their dreams!

Top 10 Crowning Moments of May 2017

10. Miss World New Zealand 2017, Annie Evans

Annie was chosen from a pool of 11 contestants to represent New Zealand at Miss World 2017. She was crowned by the outgoing Miss World New Zealand, Karla De Beer.

According to the Miss World New Zealand Facebook Page, Annie, along with the other contestants, went through a 13-week personal development training program in preparation for the pageant. Contestants were taught a variety of pageant skills, including modeling, makeup and public speaking. (Read: Miss World 2017 To Be Held In China)

9. Miss Iraq 2017, Vian Amer Noori Sulaiman

This 23-year-old beat out 14 other contestants to walk away with the title. She is originally from Sulaymaniyah. She currently works for an insurance/investment company in Baghdad. Vian will go on to represent her country at the 2017 Miss Universe Pageant.

8. Miss Florida Cinderella Woman 2017, Amanda Kronhaus

Amanda won the title of Miss Florida Cinderella Woman 2017 on May 13. She was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Kelty Zavitz. Amanda competed in interview, partywear/formalwear modeling, casual wear modeling, photogenic and talent. She will go on to represent the state the International Cinderella Pageant. 7. Miss New York 2017, Gabrielle Walter

Gabrielle won the coveted title of Miss New York on May 28. The 24-year-old beat out 30 other contestants for the title. She competed as Miss Western New York 2017. She beat out 30 other contestants for the title. She represented Western New York and won a Preliminary Swimsuit Award. For her talent, she sang, “All I Ask of You” from the Phantom of the Opera.

Her Platform is “Dream Up: Fostering Success in Our Youth.” She is a law student at the University at Buffalo.

Along with the title, she also won a $10,000 scholarship plus a $250 scholarship for her swimsuit award. She will go on to compete in the 2018 Miss America Pageant September 10 in Atlantic City. (Read: Miss America Organization Names New President)

6. Miss Earth New Zealand 2017, Abby Sturgin

Abby Sturgin won the title of Miss Earth New Zealand 2017 on May 27. She was crowned by her predecessor, Janelle Nicholas Wright. She is studying accounting and management at Auckland University of Technology. (Read: Top 3 Miss Earth 2016 Evening Gowns)

5. Miss World Teen Supermodel 2017. Alongoo Tungalagtami

Alongoo won Miss World Teen Supermodel representing Mongolia. In addition to winning the Teen category, she was also crowned the overall winner of the pageant. This means she had the highest score of all the contestants.

4. Ms. World 2017, Meghan Buelt

Meghan, fifth from the left, was crowned Ms. World on May 28. There were other titleholders crowned, including Ms. World Elite Lidia Szczepanowski and Ms. World International Nancy-Ellen Martin.

In addition, the Ms. United States World queens were crowned. This included Ms. U.S. World, Krystle Rene Hamlet, Ms. U.S. World Elite, Carla Gonzalez, Ms. U.S. World International, Renee Robertson, and Ms. World Ambassador, Tedi Haid. (Read: How to Pick the Best Ms and Mrs Interview Outfits)

3. Miss Florida Earth United States, Amber Dawn Butler

Amber won Miss Florida Earth on her first try. The redheaded beauty competed for a number of years in the Miss America system and held multiple titles. She is a double graduateofm the University of Miami, receiving her Bachelors in marine affairs and policy and her Master’s in marine ecosystems and society.

Her platform is “Ocean Sustainability,” keeping oceans clean through recycling and proper trash disposal. Her platform also addresses the importance of protecting coral reefs and wild fish stocks through aquaculture. She will go on to represent Florida at the Miss United States Earth Pageant in August. 2. Miss Rhode Island 2017, Nicolette Peloquin

Nicolette was chosen out of 16 contestants to represent the state of Rhode Island at Miss America 2018. The 21-year-old tumbled for her talented and competed for the state title as Miss Newport. 1. Miss USA 2017, Kára McCullough

Kára walks away with the number one crowning moment after being crowned the 66th Miss USA on May 14. The 25-year-old represented District of Colombia, making it the first back-to-back win for the state and the first since Texas won the title in 1988 and 1989.

Kára was born in Naples, Italy. She attended South Carolina State University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in chemistry with a concentration in radiochemistry. She is an emergency preparedness specialist in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response.
