Glamshots are one of the first of many photoshoots at Miss USA. The photo from this photoshoot will serve as one of the official photos for the contestant crowned Miss USA throughout her reign.
This is different from the contestants headshots submitted for the competition. The glamshot is done by the team and sponsors of the Miss USA Organization when contestants arrive for the competition.
The glamshot also serves as one of the first photos the pageant world sees of the contestants. Top 10 predictions are done when headshots go up. However, predictions often change when the glamshot hits the Miss USA website. The photo is the first look at how each contestant works with the Miss USA and Miss Universe team. Top 10 Glamshots from Miss USA 2017
10. Miss New Hampshire, Sarah Mousseau
Sarah’s pose is very expected in this photo. However, this photo lands in the Top 10 because of one thing: her eyes.
Dead eyes can completely ruin an otherwise gorgeous photo. If a contestant is not mentally present at a photoshoot, it will show in her eyes no matter the pose. Sarah has so much expression in her eyes and they are full of life. She is embracing this moment at Miss USA and enjoying her time. All of this comes across in her expression, making this one of the best glamshots of the group.
9. Miss Wyoming, Mikaela Shaw
This is almost an action shot. It looks like she is walking away and just happened to turn to the camera to capture this moment. The photo is gorgeous.
She is not looking straight at the camera. Instead, her expression looks like she is looking at something behind the camera. It gives her eyes depth and makes you wonder what she is thinking about. This photo is a great way to start a conversation with a contestant. A judge could ask, “What were you thinking while you took this photo?” (Read: How Important Are Pageant Headshots to Winning a Pageant)
8. Miss New Mexico, Ashley Mora
This is a beautiful photo. Ashley’s smile is warm and inviting. The photo does come across as very sweet. However, the bare shoulder and minimal accessories give it just enough “oomph” to make it appropriate for a glamour shot.
7. Miss North Dakota, Raquel Wellentin
Simply stunning. Raquel is “flirting” with the camera in this photo. She is “smiling” with her eyes and pouting her lip. Turning her face slightly away from the camera highlights her cheekbones.
She has beautifully golden dewy skin that is to die for. The overall look creates a flirty, fun and sexy photo. (Read: How To Care For Your Skin The Week Before You Leave For A Pageant_
6. Miss Tennessee, Allee-Sutton Hethcoat
The pose makes this photo. No other contestant posed this way, making her stand out. However, while the pose is a little extreme with one leg up, she fully embraces it so it works.
Part of the key to a good photo is being completely confident in what you are doing. Here, Allee-Sutton is oozing confidence. By propping her arm on her leg and having her hand on her neck, she keeps the attention on her face while still maintaining this creative pose. (Read: What to Wear for Pageant Headshots)
5. Miss Florida, Linette De Los Santos
Linette looks fierce. She is one of the only contestants who has a ¾ photo for her glamshot. This automatically makes her stand out in a sea of bust shots.
Her pose is very striking. Cinching in her already tiny waist with her hands accentuates her beautiful figure. The pouty lip and smize are sexy but she does not overdo it. Linette has modeled outside of pageants and she brought all those skills to this photoshoot. Overall, it is a fantastic example of sexiness and glamour.
4. Miss California, India Williams
This photo is so much different from her headshot. She is showing off her beautiful bright white smile in her headshot. She went with a very different look here.
India chose a full body pose for her photo. She also went for the pout-lip and smize look. She nailed it.
This was a great route to take because it shows she is diverse in her modeling skills. Considering Miss USA will have many photo shoots, the choice was perfect. (Read: 10 Tips for Pageant Photo Etiquette You Need to Know)
3. Miss South Carolina, Megan Gordon
Megan looks warm and inviting in this photo. With glamshots, the typical pose is very high fashion, sexy and modely. Here, Megan used one of her best features to her advantage: her smile. She has an incredibly white smile that lights up the room.
Her pose is also well thought out. In this photo, she is modeling from head to toe (H2T). She thought about how to place every single part of her body. Considering this is a full body photo, this skill is essential. While the pose is well thought out, it is still casual and fun. The photo says she is approachable and sweet, which are qualities every titleholder should have. (Read: 5 Mac Duggal Gowns That Will Help You Get the Perfect Headshot)
2. Miss Minnesota, Meridith Gould
Talk about a bombshell. Meridith is oozing sexiness, class and glamour in her glamshot.
Meridith has incredible bone structure and cheekbones. Her choice to tile her head so the mixture of blush and bronzer would catch the light make her to die for cheekbones stand out that much more. The pin-straight hair is not distracting and allows her bright blue eyes to pop in the photo. (Read: How to Apply Pageant Blush and Highlighter)
1. Miss Pennsylvania, Cassandra Angst
Say hello to a modern-day Jessica Rabbit.
Cassandra’s choice of pose is gorgeous. Red hair can be a challenge in pageantry because it is always a star. She found the perfect way to balance her fiery locks while not letting them overpower the photo.
Flipping all her hair to one side draws the attention to her face. Her hair falls in the middleground of the photo while her face is the foreground. This keeps the attention on her face but still shows off her gorgeous hair. (Read: How to Style Red Hair for a Pageant)
