What Does Pia Think About Miss Universe Returning to the Philippines?

We have been following the discussion on where Miss Universe will be held this year. Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach has chimed in positively on the pageant’s possible return to her home country.

The possibility of return to the Philippines

A few weeks ago, Philippines Secretary of Tourism Wanda Teo revealed that the Miss Universe Organization asked the Philippines to host the Miss Universe pageant again this year. Although nothing is set in stone, Paula Shugart, the president of the Miss Universe Organization, has recently visited the country to decide whether to hold this year’s pageants there. What does Pia Wurtzbach have to say?

After this news leaked, we have seen several titleholders and officials comment on the possible return to the Philippines. Among those commentators is Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach. The former titleholder is in favor of holding the pageant in the Philippines again this year.

In an interview, Wurtzbach said, “There’s still a lot of time to prepare if ever it really pushes through here in the Philippines. If it happens, then we’ll make sure that it’s going to be an even better show than the last time.” This might be hard to accomplish since last year’s pageant was the most tweeted televised event, surpassing even the Super Bowl.

Also weighing in on the possible location of Miss Universe 2017 was last year’s Miss Universe Philippines, Maxine Medina. She talked about the pressures of having the Miss Universe pageant in her home country and expressed concern for Miss Universe Philippines 2017, Rachel Peters. Medina spoke candidly about the immense pressure Peters will face after the country has had two successful years with a Miss Universe winner and a top 5 placement.
